LM 35 temperature sensor is the most widely used for practice, because besides the price is cheap, its quite good linearity. LM35 does not require external calibration which provides accuracy of ± ¼ ° C at room temperature and ± ¾ ° C in the range -55 to +150 ° C. LM35 is intended to operate at -55 ° to +150 ° C, while LM35C at -40 ° C to +110 ° C, and LM35D in the range 0-100 ° C. LM35D packages are also available at 8 feet and TO-220 package. LM35 sensors will generally increase by 10mV each increase of 1 ° C (300mV at 30 ° C).
To use the LM35, connect the output of the Vout pin to be connected directly to the ADC (eg, 0804 ADC 8 bit) like the following picture.
The circuit of LM35 with ADC0804
At the ADC is known as Free Running and Mode controls. In Free Running Mode, ADC0804 will issue the results of reading the input data automatically and sustainable (Continue) after they finish converting analog to digital. INTR pin will be logic low after the ADC conversion is complete, this logic is used as an insert for ordering WR ADC to start conversion again.
Control Mode is a new mode to start the ADC conversion after being given instructions from the microcontroller. Instruction is done by providing a low pulse to the WR input instantaneous +1 ms, and then read the ADC output data after INTR logic output low.
